Project in the rural area Good day, my name is Peter Jørgensen, I am 21 years old and I am from Denmark. I have been in Romania for 7 months as part of a European program EVS (European Volunteer Service) and I volunteer in the Board-game NGO Mirakolix. We are 4 volunteers from Europe forming the project we call “Play Your Way”. PYW is an attempt to promote informal education through games in any kind. I will make my own project which is targeting the rural area of Cluj-Napoca, an area I have come to appreciate while staying in Cluj. My personal project will be to arrange weekly football practices for the children and youth in Stolna and Luna. The practice will be one hour weekly and the duration will be 2 months (May-June). It will be an attempt to create more opportunities for kids and youngsters in the after-school program. In Luna the practice will be located on a pitch next to the school while the practice in Stolna will be in the small village on a field with grass. The practice will be rounded up in the end of June with a big tournament for the children and youngsters that have participated. The schedule of the training will be different whether the practice is for the youngsters or the kids. The basic of the activities will be to learn to pass the ball safely from one person to the other for developing a team that functions in the end. The activities will mainly involve developing skills with the football and give them the fundamental understanding of playing systematically in a team. Furthermore I aim to teach them basic understanding of the importance of team-play and team-spirit that is important in all aspects and things that is not taught within the walls of the classroom.
